Blog slacker from Mom
Ok, I know. Even my mom told me I was blog slacking....

Weekend update:
Quick list of what happened over the weekend:
  • Sleepover: My parents came over Friday night for dinner and a sleepover!! We ate fish that my mom brought over and watched Door to Door about an inspirational disabled salesman. Picked up Heidi from OAK, brought her to our house too. Woke up too early on a Saturday morning, since I could hear rustling downstairs in the kitchen - turned out to be my parents working the coffee machine.
  • Saturday night - randomly called up Rex, Dale, Lisa, and George and met up at Dale & Lisa's in San Jose. Walked over to this cute Cuban restaurant Habana Cuba and had really good Cuban food. Then went back to their place and played Hold 'Em with a dollar buy-in... The Abar's took the pot of $6 :)
  • Easter Sunday - went to church with my parents and Heidi, then went to lunch at our fave Chinese restaurant - Paradise. My dad kept joking that we were eating in Paradise on Easter Sunday :) Brought Heidi to the airport in the pouring rain, and she almost missed her flight! She said they were paging her on the intercom to come to the gate since the plane was about to take off!

Wedding DVD!
We were getting anxious to see our wedding video, so we kept emailing our videographer... he was cool about it and told us it was done last night. So we drove over to SF and since the DVD wasn't done burning yet, we watched it on his Mac. It was awesome!! Can't wait to get the real DVD's so we can show friends and family.

Active lifestyle
Alan and I started running regularly on Saturday. We run around our neighborhood, and it ranges between 1-2 miles a day (sometimes 3 for Alan). We're getting ready for the SJ Mercury Run, and we want to be somewhat in shape.

I also started playing softball again for my company team. We had our first practice last night and it went pretty well! I got a couple of good hits - not home runs or anything, but hits nonetheless. Our first game is next Wednesday! Should be fun this season, now that I'm not worried about planning a wedding like I was last year.

I will keep calling you to see if you're sleeping
And if you're sleeping, are you dreaming
And if you're dreaming, are you dreaming of me?

For some reason, I couldn't get these lyrics out of my head all day today! I kept singing them to myself... weird huh? From a song called Calling You by Blue October, I think.

Speaking of dreams
I had a weird dream the other night that I cut my own hair really short. I think it's because I've been thinking about cutting it drastically lately.

And I also had a weird dream last night that my friend Tanya and I were in a grocery store and I wanted to buy cinnamon rolls and bacon. Mmmmmm bacon!

Happy Easter!
Hope you and your families have a great Easter weekend! My parents and Heidi are coming over tonight for dinner and a sleepover :) I love it when there are other people in our house :)

Slacker
Yes, I know it's been a week, but nothing that eventful happened to me this week...

Go Texas Tech!
My team is still in the tournament! I have to admit that watching college basketball is really fun and exciting, especially since I'm in three pools now :) I love just watching the last few minutes of the game, when the fate of either team is in their own hands... big upsets this past week! I found myself screaming at the TV when Texas Tech was playing Gonzaga :) Funny how I'm more into it than Alan is.

Funnel Cloud in SSF
After I read Ms. Luzon's blog about the funnel cloud in South City, I read up on funnel clouds. Do you know that a funnel cloud only turns into a 'tornado' when it hits the ground? Scary to think that it happened in our area though!

Speed reader
I've turned into a speed reader - with Nicholas Sparks books anyway! It only took me a week to finish The Rescue and about 3 days for Message in a Bottle! What can I say, they're page-turners and I don't want to put them down until I finish :) Next up, one of his other books, A Bend in the Road.

The MADNESS begins
March Madness starts today - the first round of the NCAA tournament! I'm more into it this year, since I joined two pools - one that Jerry set up and one that my mom's company is setting up. I picked my teams and didn't realize until Kitchie called me this morning that the team I picked to win pretty much sucks. Jer emailed me about it too, but I guess I was rushing when I was picking. Anyway, you never know... go Texas Tech! :) hehehe.

Luck of the Irish
Happy St. Patrick's Day today! I realize when I was driving to work today that I wasn't wearing green... darn. Hope I don't get pinched. Happy 20th Birthday to my cousin Jenny too!

Gotta start somewhere
Alan and I signed up for the San Jose Mercury Run again this year. Last year Alan had a bum knee, so he just walked the 5K and I ran it. He tried to convince me to sign up for the 10K this year with him, but since I haven't run since last June (the Mud Run), I don't think that'll go too well with my body. Hopefully I can at least beat my 5K time from last year.

Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman
I was playing around with the TiVo a couple nights ago, looking for shows to record when I found my old favorite show! I loved this show when it first came out and was sad when it ended. Now I can watch all the reruns :) But my TiVo is filling up now, with that and Dawson's and the new shows too.

80's Casino Night
Had a great time at Diana's birthday casino night. The theme was the 80's so mostly everyone dressed up in their 80s clothes and hairstyles! It was funny seeing people as how they would have looked like if I knew them in the 80s. Side ponytails, big scruchies, stretch pants under skirts, layered socks over pegged pants, blue eyeshadow, big hoop earrings, acid-washed Guess jeans, and some really outrageous other outfits....

As for the casino night, Alan and I both came up big! A total of $16 in winnings between the both of us. Considering we were playing with quarters, that's a lot! I found out that I loved being blackjack dealer! You know what they say... the house always wins. :)

Saturday on the other side of the bay
Saturday afternoon we hung out with my mom and then had dinner at Bev & Gary's house. They were so generous in cooking us a full dinner - parmesan bread, salad, chicken parmigiana over pasta, and homemade toffee chip cookies!! Mmmm... it was really fun hanging out and talking about different things that we have in common - mainly the camera geek stuff for the guys and home/TV stuff for us girls :) We also watched Old School which was ok.... I think it's Jerry's favorite movie... I think it's a guy thing... Anyway, thanks Gary & Bev! We should hang out more often!

Sunny Sunday
Sunday morning we had an appointment with our photographer to finalize the pictures for our album! We got to pick 70 pictures, and we're really excited about our magazine-style album! She said it would take 6-7 weeks to do the layout, so we could come in and see it before they print it, just in case we want to change anything. And then another 1.5 months for the album...

After that we went to Valley Fair to do some shopping and to eat lunch. We went to Crate and Barrel to buy some stuff that we didn't get off our registry, same with Macy's, and then we had lunch at CPK, since I had those gift certificates from our Christmas gift exchange.... yummy lettuce wraps and Thai Chicken pizza! We walked around the mall a bit. We went to Bed Bath & Beyond in Fremont to buy our curtain stuff for the kitchen and put it up when we got home! It looks a little bit more homey now...

Felicity marathon!
Got the first two Felicity Season 4 CDs in the mail and I finished one on Sunday night (4 episodes)! I'm gonna work on the second one today! It's soo good :) Plus, I TiVo Dawson's Creek that plays at 10 and 11am on TBS and it's my favorite part of all the seasons - when Joey & Pacey start dating!! Too much TV? Yes, but I try to turn it off by the time someone gets home.... or trick him into watching it with me :)

Bookworm
I've been reading a lot lately, since I have some free time when I get home (before the hubby arrives) and also before we go to sleep. I started reading Confessions of a Shopaholic but only got through chapter 7 until I had to return it to the library, since I couldn't renew it online because someone placed a hold on it... I'll have to finish it someday - it was so funny! Anyone out there want to let me borrow? And also the other 3 Shopaholic books?

Anyway, so when I went to return that one, I picked up two Nicholas Sparks books - The Rescue and Message in a Bottle. I started with The Rescue since I'd already seen the other one in movie-form. I kinda wanted a new story and not one where I knew the ending already... It's a really good book - it really is a page-turner and knowing how I don't really read too much, that says something. I think his writing is pretty good - the way it just flows and keeps you in suspense. I'm sure all of his other books are like that too... or so I've heard from both my dad and sisters who've read Message in a Bottle, A Walk to Remember, and also The Notebook. I wonder if The Rescue will become a movie, since his previous 3 books were turned into movies.

Alan likes it when I read... better than me watching TV, according to him. But I just set up my Tivo and it's awesome!! :) I love the pause and rewind live TV option.

Cookies!
I saw that we had a bag of chocolate chips in our pantry last night and I had a craving for freshly baked chocolate chip cookies.... so at lunch today I went to Safeway to buy all the ingredients that I don't have yet - flour, baking soda, brown sugar, and vanilla extract. I can't wait to go home and make them! I've never made cookies from scratch before - it's always been from those Pillsbury rolls of the dough that you just spoon onto the pan. I hope they come out good!

Eating healthier
I'm going to try to eat healthier, since my mom told me to ;) I'm gonna start drinking milk again - I used to drink it everyday all the way up until I went to college. (Plus the milk should go well with cookies and other baked goods I'm going to start making.... mmmm... brownies!) I've already started eating a honey tangerine a day (my favorite fruit!) and I try to buy more fresh vegetables when I go to the Asian market. Plus not eating candy and drinking soda, which I gave up for Lent, really adds to this healthier eating thing. Maybe I won't go back to eating candy after Lent.

Run around the block
Saturday morning, Alan and I took a quick run around our neighborhood. I need to get some real running outfits, because the one I was wearing wasn't working out. I was just wearing gray sweat pants and a t-shirt, and my legs started getting itchy after only running a couple blocks. I need to get running shorts that don't scratch up against my skin, so I can run longer without getting annoyed.

Banyan Garden
We went to dinner on Saturday night for Aud's birthday. She picked this restaurant in Union City called Banyan Garden - it was Malaysian/Thai food. There was about a 20 minute wait, but it was totally worth it!! The food was so good, and they were pretty quick serving the food once we got seated! I think we found our new favorite restaurant in the neighborhood. If you go, try the Pineapple Fried Rice, Kong Pao Beef, Aromatic Chicken, Malaysian Short Ribs, Mango Shrimp, and of course the Pad Thai!

Slacker
Yes, I've been slacking. Lots of stuff going on... Well, not really, but I guess I've been lazy.

So fresh and so clean
We got a lot of stuff for the house this past week - our new washer and dryer!, a vacuum cleaner from Costco, huge mirrors from Costco (what a steal - only $99 each!), and our new memory foam mattress. We also painted the laundry room and our 'gym'. We sat on the laundry room floor and watched the washer do one full cycle. And started at our own reflections in the washer door as the clothes cycled round and round :) I like being a home-body... can't I just work from home all day, or better yet, be a stay-at-home mom? (No, it's not what you're thinking....) I just like being in our house.

Congrats to my little acting sister
Heidi tried out for her Pilipino Cultural Celebration skit, and made it! I'm so happy for her and can't wait to see her play the 'Crying Girl'... hehehe. I booked our flights to San Diego today on Southwest.

Iron Chef?
I've been cooking a lot, since I get home earlier and I'm really hungry by the time I get home. Been cooking lots of dishes that my mom makes and they've been turning out pretty well. Last night I made pancit with my favorite noodles, canton (I like thick noodles vs the thin rice noodles better) and it turned out pretty good... not as good as my mom's but good enough :) I was gonna try to cook some things out of our dozen of cookbooks, but it was hard finding a recipe where we had all the ingredients at home....
