Mighty

Here are the girls at the club Mighty on Friday night. We stayed until 3am, when the place shut down!! Can't believe we did that - it didn't seem that long!

I'll blog later - I'm testing out imgspot.com, where you upload pics and they host for free. Thanks super6rlee for suggesting it! Low-res pics, but fast and free... It works!

Too much free food
First came the salad... the free salad at work came back this week starting on Monday. At first I thought it was only gonna be a one-time thing, but they've had it all week. This will help me get back to eating more greens.

Then came the baby shower ... we had a baby shower for a coworker yesterday afternoon and they had cake! We also played two games - guess the baby food and put a diaper on the bear with one hand. I won the prize for the diaper one (I put it on in 28 seconds!) and I tied for 1st on the baby food game (I only missed one - sweet potatoes!), but since I already got a gift I didn't take the other one ;)

They also had free ice cream yesterday, but after the shower I didn't want to eat any more.

Today... free bagels in the lunchroom in the morning!! So I had a plain bagel (toasted) and half strawberry cream cheese, half reduced-fat plain cream cheese. "Reduced-fat" ... not that it helps THAT much.

And I just got back today from a coworker's birthday celebration with more cake! Yummy cappucino cake from Sheng Kee Bakery. But now I feel like I've been eating too much, plus I ate one whole pack of Mamba while sitting at my desk all day.

I think it's time to start watching what I eat...

Wedding by the Sea
Back from another weekend getaway - this time to San Luis Obispo for Alan's cousin's wedding. The ceremony was at the Mission San Luis Obispo followed by a reception at The Cliffs Resort in Pismo Beach. See that patch of grass right in front of the pool? That's where they set up the tent where they had the reception. Very very great weather and gorgeous views. Plus we had steak and lobster for dinner. Overall a great wedding!! I'm glad Alan and I made the trek down there... and I got to meet another cousin!

Hearst Castle
On our way home, we stopped by Hearst Castle and took the 2 hour tour of the place. My favorite spot in the castle was the Neptune Pool. I think I could stay there all day if I could... with the beautiful columns (I love columns!) and the huge pool! Amazing how that castle was built all the way up there.

Bad idea to go up Highway 1
So from Hearst Castle, we took Highway 1 all the way up until we could cross over to 101. Bad idea. It would probably have been faster to go back down and then catch 101 from there instead of going through all the twisty, turny roads of Highway 1. It took us about an hour to go 30 miles! But I guess you can't beat the view of the ocean, even though it was kinda scary being on the cliffs. But never, ever will we do that again.

Am I awake?
Back from Hawaii and thrown into reality right away. Took the red-eye flight last night, got in at 6am... slept for one hour in Daly City then got ready for work. I think I've been half asleep all day today. I even started to nod off during a seminar, but thank goodness I forcefully wake right up after one head-bob.

Congratulations graduate!
Saw Kitchie get her MBA diploma on Sunday! Congrats Kitch! Now on to bigger and better things...

Time to go home...
I'll blog more later!

Offsite meeting!
Yay! I'm off to an offsite meeting in SF right now! At least I'll be outside in this beautiful sunshine for a little bit today. I think the meeting will last until the end of the day, so I'm pretty much done for the rest of the day!
Hawaii here we come!
I'm excited for our Hawaii trip this week. I'm listening to the CD of Hawaiian songs that Jerry made for us when we were there on our honeymoon. I can't wait to go back and relax on the beach and have good food :) Hopefully we can do a lot of relaxing, like this:

Lennon the Musical
Last night Jane and I went to see Lennon the Musical in San Francisco. We got same-day tickets for $25 each, but the seats were in the very very first row... A little too close for comfort - my neck started to hurt towards the end - but it was great to see the actors up close and personal. Kinda made us feel self-conscious since the lights were always on us and the performers frequently looked at us. But it was a great musical with all of Lennon's songs telling his life story. I only knew a couple of the songs (his popular ones like 'Woman', 'Beautiful Boy', and one Beatles song) It's a Broadway-bound show, so I hope it does well! I recognized some of the actors, like the princess and the prince, from Aida on Broadway... I'm glad it stopped in SF first :) At least I get a little bit of Broadway here in San Francisco...

Gyro
Had dinner at Gyro King near the theater and it was really really good! I totally didn't know that the 'G' in 'gyro' is silent... it's good I didn't make a fool out of myself and order it. I got the chicken shish kebab platter with rice, salad, and couscous. It was really tasty and yummy... I'm getting hungry now...

La Jolla mini-vacation
Got back from visiting Heidi at UCSD for her Pilipino Cultural Celebration on Sunday night. It was nice to take a mini-vacation to La Jolla... we got there Saturday morning and Kitchie picked us up. Then headed over to Heidi's apartment to meet up with my parents. We drove around La Jolla and stopped by a couple of beaches.

We ate lunch for Mother's Day at this great restaurant called George's at the Cove on the oceanview terrace on the roof. We had the best seat in the house - the corner table overlooking the ocean! The desserts were soooo good - we had the strawberry shortcake and the apple crisp a la mode. Mmmmmm.

Checked in our room at the Marriott and rested up before going to see Heidi in her PCC. She was awesome as an actress and dancer! Good job H :)

Sunday we had brunch at IHOP before Kitchie had to leave. Then went back to the hotel, swam in the indoor heated pool (which was pretty fun!!! The pool was empty so we had it all to ourselves!), then headed back to the airport to come back.

It was nice to relax and hang out with the fam. Our next mini-vacation isn't too far away - Thursday we're going to Hawaii for Kitchie's graduation!! Our family does a lot of travelling...

Something you love to see

This will put a smile on anyone's face. (picture courtesy of Kitchie)

Poker night for the guys, Sushi night for the gals
So Alan hosted a poker night for his co-workers, and since it was gonna be all guys, I decided to get out of the house and so I told Shirley to plan something. Since I had a weird craving for sushi, we ended up going to dinner at this Japanese restaurant that Gina had heard about called Murasaki on Clement Street in SF. Shirley picked me up from Daly City, then we got Gina then headed over. The sushi was pretty good, it was a cute small restaurant and they even gave us free dessert (we thought it was green tea ice cream and on first bite all of us were a bit surprised b/c it tasted weird. we found out that it was actually green tea mousse). I got to try different types of sushi that I had never had before (since I only go to Sushi House in Alameda and Sushi Sam's in San Mateo). Then we drove over to Gina's place, luckily found parking, and hung out at her apartment watching late night TV shows. J Lo got a new haircut that I liked... I think I need one too, so I might get it the same way.

Free gifts and fried fish
Alan and I went to Island Pacific Supermarket on Sunday after church and ended up buying more stuff that we actually needed since they were having this anniversary sale/giveaway. Spend $15, get a dozen eggs; spend $25 get a jug of corn oil; $50 gets you a 20 lb bag of rice, $75 - a bigger bag of rice, $100 - a rice cooker, and $125 a rice dispenser. We tried to shop for as many things as we could but ended up just spending $60 so we got the rice. But Alan also picked up 2 pieces of tilapia (fish) and had them fry it for us right there. We got home and had a great meal - fried fish, tomatoes, patis (fish sauce) and rice. mmmmm.
