Happy Halloween!

A Musketeer and Camelot Princess

I was so excited to pass out candy tonight, I didn't expect so many kids! I only bought 4 bags of candy, and ran out quickly at around 7pm. So Alan and I made a run to the store to buy more, so we turned off our lights and took down our decoration so no kids would come by when we were gone. Got back in half an hour and passed out more candy!

I love the little kids in costume... So cute! The bigger kids aren't that cute and some just want candy and don't even say 'Trick or Treat'. Oh well.

Rex came by and scared the crap out of me when I opened the door b/c he was in his gorilla suit and jumped out at me! haha. Very funny. But the 3 of us walked around the neighborhood in costume and actually got some candy.

Next year I know to buy lots more candy!

I get by with a little help from my friends...
We won our 2nd softball game last night! It was a great game - we all kept on getting on base, which is what we need to score! Half of the team were my friends - Johanna, Rowena, Judy, Alvin, and me! It's good I know people who can play on our team when we're short - or else we would have had to forfeit like last week! :( One more game next week and the season is over! Too bad we won't make the playoffs, but it's getting cold out there, so it's ok.

Flu Shot First-Timer
Yesterday we had a benefits fair at work and they were giving out free stuff - like Jamba Juices (one of the 3 choices was my favorite - Strawberries Wild!), free massages, bandaids, floss, pens, and flu shots! The line was really long and I waited about 40 minutes to get mine. The nurse asked me if it was my first time and I said yes, so after she gave me the shot, she made me sit behind her for another 10 minutes just to watch me. She said I may have a reaction, since it's my first time. But nothing bad happened, except that my arm was sore for the rest of the day...

Halloween
I'm excited for Halloween! Alan and I borrowed my cousin's costumes of a Musketeer and a Camelot lady. Now if only I could find a wig of long brown or blond hair. We're going to a party on Sunday and then I'm going to wear it while passing out candy to the kids in our neighborhood. I hope lots of kids come knocking at our door this year! :) I think I need to get some decoration for our front door, so they'll come by...

BEP is awesome!
We went to that free Honda Civic concert at Monster Park on Saturday night. We got there around 4:30pm even though the gates didn't open until 6pm. We played deuces in line while we waited :) When the gates opened, it was a mad rush to the stage, and even though I didn't RUN like other people did, we got a pretty good spot - about 6 people-rows from the stage on the right. So another hour of waiting and finally the opening act Blackalicious came on for about 45 minutes. Then another 45 minutes of standing in the freezing cold until they came on!

This concert was sooo much better (and longer) than when they opened for Gwen and DMB! Since they were the headliners, I guess they had more time, so they played about an hour and a half set.... Plus..... get this!...... Apl got up and sang Bebot! I couldn't believe it! The Filipinos in the crowd start to go crazy when it started, including me! He mixed in the opening line from The Apl Song from the last album, which was awesome too! What a great concert! It was so worth waiting in the freezing cold.

Here's the set they did: (I wrote it down, since we all had a bet on how many songs they would sing)
Hey Mama
Smells Like Funk
Dum Diddley
Joints & Jam (old school BEP!)
Don't Lie
Shutup
Solos (each of the 4 of them got up and did a solo - free styling I think. This is when Apl.de.Ap sang Bebot)
Where is the Love
Pump It (this song is so awesome!)
Don't Funk With My Heart
My Humps
Let's Get Retarded

And lots of stuff in between. Awesome :) I'm on a BEP high.

Gwen and the Black Eyed Peas
Last night Alan and I went to the Gwen Stefani concert, featuring the BEP. Awesome show by the Black Eyed Peas - although we both were hoping that they would bust out with Bebot but they never did. Gwen did her thing with the Harajuku girls (her Japanese backup dancers - 3 of whom are actually from Japan, the other one is from LA I think). I only knew those songs that were on the radio and a few other ones that are on the CD. But there were 2 on our wedding video, so it was cool to hear them live.

Sonoma Chicken Coop
Before the show, we met up with some friends at the Sonoma Chicken Coop for dinner. The line was out the door and hardly moving when we got there. By the time we got our food, we had ordered it to go since it was 20 minutes til showtime. We gulfed down our BBQ Chicken Pizza (yum, by the way) and walked to the arena, just in time to catch the BEP.

Text messaging at concerts
I guess it's the new thing these days to text a message or picture from your phone and it will be projected onto these big screens before the show or in between acts. We saw it at the BSB concert and again last night. Dale posted a pic of him and Lisa and we were so excited that we saw it that we decided to post our own pic. And sure enough, it showed up on the screen about a minute later. Not sure if it cost anything but it was exciting nonetheless.

Taffy
There's a bowl of assorted candy in the front lobby and every time I pass by I grab the mini laffy-taffy's. They're so good. I just hope they keep refilling the bowl, since there are usually only 2-3 taffys and I grab all of them :)

Recap
  • The whole fam was back in the bay this past weekend for my mom's birthday! So I was at the airport 3 times this weekend, to pick up and drop off.

  • Wedding appointments: Went with Kitchie to meet with one videographer (who was a no-show, at his own house!) and the same people who did our photography. Then went with Kitchie to try on more dresses and pick her final one, even though she had already bought another one, they let her switch it!

  • Birthday dinner at Banyan Banana Island in Westlake - great Malaysian food! It was our first time there and so we went all out for Ma's birthday and ordered lots of dishes, leaving us with leftovers for the next two days. But the place was cute and very very good, especially the fried bananas and ice cream for dessert!

  • Sunday in the City - we decided to go to Mass at St. Patrick's Church where K's getting married in the City. Afterwards they had a fundraising brunch where they served eggs, garlic fried rice, and either longanisa or bangus. Good Filipino brunch! Then we walked over to Union Square where there was a band playing, took some pics, and went to the hotel where they're having the reception. Saw the great view from the top floor and saw the ballroom too! Can't wait to celebrate there! Then stopped by Macy's and Mom bought lots of stuff from Lancome and got 3 free gifts! :)

Book Club night tonight
Going to discuss our latest read The Time Traveler's wife by Audrey Niffenegger. Great book and very interesting plot. Read it if you can!

Birthday bang
Started October off with 3 birthday events - Friday night was Lisa's birthday and although I was feeling sick, we went to celebrate with her at Habana Cuba in San Jose, just down the street from their condo. Afterwards, we went back to their place and played a new game Apples to Apples until 2am.

Saturday night we headed back down to San Jose for Brian's birthday thing at his house and then Studio 8 in downtown SJ. It was a pretty big club - the inside reminded me of a bank. We had bottle service, so we all hung out at 2 VIP tables with bottles of vodka, cranberry juice, Red Bull, and orange juice.

Sunday we celebrate Ben's birthday at our favorite restaurant, Banyan Garden! As usual, great food! Then we headed over to Union City and played the game that we bought for Ben - Apples to Apples! Then watched Sahara and went to church, where the pastor was celebrating his last mass at the parish.

Got Better
Through all this, I got to sleep in both days (on Saturday I practically slept all day, only getting up for food and to watch a few episodes of Desperate Housewives) and on Sunday we slept in til 11am. I love sleeping! Plus it did wonders for my cold. So did the Sudafed and Robitussin CF.
